Minimize, Maximize, & exit button gone in firefox

      Hello everyone well I've been pulling my hair out (if I had hair) over this one..... Recently i installed compiz and emerald and everything has been fine for a few days but earlier today i left the house for a while locked the screen and when i came back typed password in and BAM no Minimize, Maximize or Exit button on firefox, also when i'm on the firefox window i can't see my applications button panel (i.e. where system, preference, adminstration, and accesories) .
I just removed compiz and emerald rebooted and still same thing.
   FYI: I am running Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron, nvidia geforce graphics card, and if you need anymore info just let me know.
