Sound problem

Hi I have a gateway laptop. The model is 4530 GZ. I have installed ubuntu very recently and the sound does not seem to work. It does not play any sounds and does not give me any error messages.

what kind sound would you like to play? (mp3, wma...)
ubuntu does not play some sound like mp3. if you want to do that you must install
 for instance gstreamer

It does not make any sounds at all. There must be some problem with the drivers.

Could be a driver issue, but hard to say. Please identify the audio hardware that is installed, run in a terminal:

    $ lspci | grep Audio

Report the results back here.
