Envy had errors when removing and installing new nvidia drivers

Asked by Gary

Hello

I started with a problem of the composite (RGB) video output missing the red color (faded blue screen) with the Nvidia (nvidia-gtx-new) drivers. My system consists of a MSI K9NGM3 motherboard with 2 gigs of ram. The on board NVidia 7050 chipset is great for HD viewing. This motherboard was capable of 1080i/p output via the VGA and the HDMI connector. The component was the only problem being washed out but had the 1080i resolution. I wanted to use the component out for use with my 47 inch TV until I picked up a HDMI cable. I was told to install Envy which I did. After the install, I ran the program. In the pop-up terminal, it showed that during the uninstall of the original driver it had errors. At the end of all of this I am now stuck with 600x400 or 800x600 video with a generic card driver. I tried to reinstall the nvidia-gtx-new driver that I installed some time ago, and it will not, or I suppose it did not reinstall. I am still stuck with the low resolution. Any way of fixing this without pulling Ubuntu from the drive and starting over. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Gary

The problem is partially fixed. I had to use the restricted drivers manager. I am now left with my original problem of the washed out blue video due to the component RGB output missing the red. The cable and component output is good due to it working with other OS' .
