default username and password for ubuntu 8.04 for desktop

today i downloaded VMware 2.5.2 build-156735 player and dowloaded ubuntu 8.04. but when i try to run ubuntu in VMware player it asks for the username and password. i don't know what is the default username and password for this.
can anybody guide me with this.

Normally, when installing Ubuntu you should have provided a username and a password for your system. Did you do this, or did you download some all-in-one package?

thanks for the reply. actually i dowloaded VMware 2.04 from the following link

then i downloaded ubuntu 8.04 from the following link

http://vmware.com/appliances/directory/1224

when i tried to run ubuntu in VMplayer. it asked for the username and password. which i dont know.

     Can you please help me with this.

username: user
password: user

in my primary account
