Requested audio codec family [mp3] (afm=mp3lib) not avilable. Enable it at compilation.

Asked by senyorita

That message appears when I play avi files in mplayer.
How can I solve that problem?

Anyway thanks for your solution, but I knew that.
Just I didn't want to solve the problem like that.
I think the ubuntu maintainer has to fix this problem, not me.

This is not a solution. I saw that the forum member reported, it solved the problem, but it doesn't. When he starts mplayer and opens the Movie in the GUI, then it doesn't give you that message anymore, but the error still pops up when you start any movie in the terminal. It works just fine, no problem, but it still says audio codec family [mp3] (afm=mp3lib), and enadble it at the compilation. I did try to find this mp3 audio codec, but it's just not there, so there is nothing to enable.
