my update Mgr. seems to stall and not update started when I went to 8.04

Since I went to the 8.04 version my update Mgr. does not seem to work.I now have over 170 waiting.
HELP!!!!!

can you execute
sudo apt-get upgrade
in a terminal and post the output here?

Go to Applications menu, Accessories and choose the Terminal

Now type

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

That should install your updates.

I also have been having the Update Mgr freeze upon ordering it to download and install updates. My count was up to 139 tonight, over 212 MB to download. It just kept showing the 'working' clock and nothing ever happened. Been doing this ever since I installed Ubuntu 8.04 a couple weeks ago. I did execute the sudo apt-get instructions Mark suggested here and it's downloading and unpacking as I write this! THANK YOU , Mark! Hope they fix this bug soon.. Sharon N
