recover files

Asked by toddq

I had a lot of trouble when I attempted to upgrade to Ubuntu LTS. I have to boot from a CD. At this point, I would be happy to just recover the files from the disk and do another install. Is there a way to recover my files? I can see some of them but other folders state that the files are unreadable and when I click on the folder it says that I do not have the necessary permissions .Is there a way to recover these files?

you can easily recover your files by booting with a live cd and then copying them to a usb stick or another partition. If you need further help fell free to reply here or on the Ubuntu community forums. http://www.ubuntuforums.org/
