How can I install ubuntu only?

Asked by Sean

I have Ubuntu now I'm going to get Xubuntu "Hardy Heron" but thats all I want. I hate windows and still have xp on there too. How do I un-install xp. I've got all my files on Ub but its on my computer as a 2nd OS. Can anyone help me, I'm new to Linux I've been useing it for 4 mos don't use xp anymore but it still takes up to much space and slows me down.

I'm going to use Synaptic to install Xubuntu. Do I need to wait till I get xp off?

To install only Ubuntu 8.04 on your pc you must simply select "Guided Use entire disk" at step 4/7

Are you saying you already have ubuntu installed and want to get rid of it and xp and install xubuntu, if that's the case do as marcobra says

If however you want to keep ubuntu and install xubuntu as well - you can choose which to login to - then you need to boot the livecd and use the partition editor to remove xp

You can then make a new partition to use and mount it with fstab
