how to uninstall and reinstall virtualbox

Help me somebody i tried to uninstall virtual box and it will not let me.... every time i try to update my my soft package and it says i need to reintstall virtualbox and when i try to open virtual box to reinstall virtual box its says file could be courupted or i might not have acess to the file please some one help me

I also have the same problem, I am very new in Linux OS, and so far it has been hard 2 configure it, and am ok with how it is working. So i would not like 2 format my machine since it has a lot of information, is there any other solution apart from formatting? I also downloaded the virtualbox, but during the installation, there was a power hitch, n my machine rebooted, since then i am having an error:

E: The package virtualbox needs to be reinstalled, but I can't find an archive for it.
E: Internal error opening cache (1). Please report.

Is there a way that i can remove it so as to get updates and also install wine for my windows application? Your help will be much appreciated!

It would help if you could tell us how you installed it in the first place, then we might have more of an idea how you can uninstall it. :)

i downloaded a package to install , but i already formatted my system cause i could not wait to get the software out ....its ok thanks

I had pretty much the same problem gar. I am wondering if reinstall of ubuntu is needed.
