adept: using aptitude's auto-dependancies yet?

Asked by Jonathan Anderson

I much prefer aptitude over apt-get, in that it automatically removes no-longer-needed dependencies. What I'd really like to use is Adept (KDE's Synaptic), but I don't want to use an APT tool that will mess aptitude up by installing packages and not marking them as auto-installed.

So... is Adept still just an apt-get frontend, or does it deal in aptitude's extra metainfo?

Thanks.

Newer versions of apt-get also have this feature.

apt-get autoremove

Will remove packages that are no longer required. Personally I have not seen any evidence that adept/apt-get "messes up" aptitude at all these days. As I understand it they use the same database anyway.
