Asked by lyndsey80

I have a laptop with Ubuntu installed on it. I want to get connected to the internet - is there a particular ISP that is best to use with Ubuntu or are they all pretty much the same?

Hi Lyndsey80,

It depends on your location where you stay. If you take me, I am in Japan and once after coming here I have done some research on Internet service providers in the area which I stay and opted for the best one.

Irrespective of the Operating system, the ISP performance depends on the service provider. So, I suggest you to ask any of your friends.

All my friends have Windows on their PC's, no-one I know has Ubuntu.

I suppose the question shoule be rephrased as - Is Ubuntu compatible with most standard ISP's?

An ISP has almost nothing to do with the OS you are using, so any ISP should be good enough.

It only depends on your requirements (service/quality/price).

Hi Lyndsey,

Go ahead and bring good ISP which is good in your place. It has nothing to do with Operating system which you are using.
