8.04 Hardy release does not update using wubi installer for windows

Asked by Jonathan L

I also downloaded the Wubi installer, I have windows Xp, the install was smooth, very clean, I am able to boot up run all the
applications provided, use my wireless, wired lan but I am not able to get updates period. Here is the error. I am not sure if I have the universe thing everyone says to have. I checked System, Administraton, Software sources, and Community maintained open source software (universe) is checked.
Any time I try to update in Add/Remove, Synaptic, and using update manager I get this same error. Anyone know the fix? or is this a compatibility issue.

Open System menu, Administration, Software Sources.
Chhose "Other" from the "Download From" List and choose the "Best Server".

This will run some tests to get you the optimal server for updates and will rewrite your /etc/apt/sources.list

Then run Update Manager as before.

Ok the Best server didnt work, said "Cannot find best server". However, I just found the country my isp is in, picked the top server in the list and I was able
to get all the updates, took awhile because there were so many like 224 packages. But all in all Im pretty darn impressed with Ubuntu and I got wine to work so now i can install windows programs. This OS should be put on computers sold at stores. The only thing i havent gotten to work yet is VLC media player using linux bits and pieces, was able to install the Vlc media player that is made for windows. The network manager works three times a good as what windows uses to repair and detect networks. Wired and Wireless detection. Might be throwing windows out the window, haha.

For reference,
I downloaded the Wubi installer. Hardy version. T
Heads Up: To get all the updates you definetly need a broadband connection because of the amount of packages initially required.
