Playing m4a FIles in Ubuntu 8.04

Asked by Ted

I'm new to Ubuntu having just switched from Windows.

I've been trying to play my m4a files using Banshee, Rhythmbox and Amarok.
None of them recognises my files.
I have installed ubuntu-restricted-extras and gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad

Is there something obvious I'm missing?

You will need to install the packages "faac" and "libfaac0". This can be done via Synaptic or apt-get.

Sorry I wasted your time. The file I was trying was either not a real .m4a or had been corrupted somehow. All is well.
Now to start transferring the .m4ps...

Cheers
