try updating grub,
 sudo update-grub

it seems that "sudo update-grub" will not add vmlinuz-2.6.24-19 when there are already too many kernels on your system.

I removed old "vmlinuz-2.6.22..." etc. via Synaptic package manager and then vmlinuz-2.6.24-19 appeared in menu.lst
