updated kernal is not added after autoupdate

Hi,
i have a ubuntu 8.02 on a dual boot (win+linux) Dell D820.
After autoupdate the new kernal were installed (checked with Synaptic) but i could not use it during restart. it was not added for some reason to menu.lst (see menu.lst).
how can i add them to menu.lst? should i add it to menu.lst?
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-
initrd /boot/initrd.
quiet
what should i write instead of the question marks at < kernel /boot/vmlinuz-
