computer freeze when session is idle.

Asked by William Mejia

I have Ubuntu 6.06, and the problem is with the screensaver option "set session as idle after (for example 1 minute). After 1 minute, session is idle and the computer freeze inmediatly and completly). I have an amd semprom 2800, RAM 512 MB. For this reason I whish uninstall the screensaver. How can I do this? Another one solution?

I have seen this happen with one of the 3d OpenGL screensavers. You could try explicitly selecting a screensaver which is not 3D (for example "blank screen"), and see if the machine still crashes.

What type of video card does the PC have?

I had this exact problem after a fresh install of Edgy. It turned out to be the video card. I had to deactivate the "set sessions as idle" option in the screensaver preferences.
