Freezing Desktop

Hello,

I have a problem with my desktop freezing up. This happened after a recent update and loss of files on the computer.

Most of the time, I try to click on the Unity symbol and the minute I click on it, everything freezes and I have to restart
the computer. Sometimes I have to restart 5 times in a row.

Sometimes if freezes elsewhere as well like if I try to open different files.

If you have some idea how to fix this, I would be grateful.
