Asked by Mario Jesus

I've just upgraded my ubuntu 8.04 (64bits) and I can't run openoffice anymore. From console I've got these messages:

Try to reinstall Openoffice without loose your setting.

Please open a Terminal from the menu Applications->Accessories->Terminal and type:

sudo apt-get --reinstall install openoffice.org

sudo apt-get -f install

give your user password when requested, you don't see nothing when you type it, then press enter.

Then retry

Sorry, but still doesn't run. I'd tried to remove all the package and reinstalled again using synaptic, without success.

Openoffice don't run. Is there an "undo2 for the last upgrade?

I have the same problem as of yesterday.
I'm using Ubuntu 8.04 (54bit) desktop - Openoffice 2.4. I updgraded from Ubuntu 7.10 (64bit) desktop using update manager.
Open office does not launch.
Uninstalling and reinstalling Open office 2.4 does not help.
Any solution?

I still can't run openoffice on my ubuntu 8.04 (64 bits) normally. I'd tried different things without success and I got a once-run when I boot my linux box with the previous kernel version. Why? I don't have an answer. Is this bug related only with gtk?

Does anybody know if there is a patch for this, yet?

Thanks.

Hi,
at the moment there are only workarounds as described in the bug mentioned above.
The easier one works for me at the moment. It is creating a new starter on the panel with a right click "add to panel" and using for the command #/usr/lib/openoffice/program/soffice.bin

Thanks, Sam for the answer.
I just tried it and it works! :)
However in the command I had to leave out the '#'.
