upadates problem

Hello,

I've Ubuntu 8.04 - the Hardy Heron dvd.

when i open synaptic package manager it lists all the packages. But when i select some pakage (e.g. vlc or kde) it starts downloading them via internet and not from disc.

I have already used software sources (add disc) but still same problem.

Can someone please tell me how can install packages form disc and not from internet.

Hi,

Run gedit with the root privilege:

ALT+F2 -> gksu gedit /etc/apt/sources.list -> Run -> your password

Comment all lines with an # character at start of the line, except the line for the DVD.

Example:
# No comment for the cdrom/dvd line
deb cdrom:[Ubuntu 8.04 _Hardy Heron_ - Alpha i386 (20080109)]/ hardy main restricted

# Comment all other line
# deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hardy-security main restricted
# deb-src http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hardy-security main restricted
# deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hardy-security universe

Save and quit, run Synaptic and click Reload button.
