XFi soundcard install problem. "NO file" error

Asked by Patrick

When I follow the Ubunto-Creative Open source page's instructions on installing a driver for my XFi Sound Card I keep getting a "NO Such File" Error when I sudo the installer. I am really hoping that this card will work as I use it for recording my music with Win. Are there any PRO cards specifically for Linux that install a lot easier than the XFi? Best if You can help me get this one working with ubuntu. I am very new to Ubuntu and so far equate it to running XP using DOS Commands. Any support is welcomed Creative does not support their Beta drivers. I have A Presonus Firebox but there is no Linux support for it.

First of all what is the path you downloaded the file to?

In order to execute the file you would have to change directory to the directory holding the file, when you start up a normal terminal it is /home/user-name(your username)/Desktop, if the file is not on the desktop then you will have to move through directories with cd.

The install file is on my desktop. Should it be elsewhere? Why does it download to the desktop?

If it is on the desktop then you have to change directory to it with:-
cd ~/Desktop
and then execute the file.

Can you help with this problem?
