What should I use to replace windows media player?

Asked by John Brooks

I am using Windows, and I'm thinking about changing to Ubuntu (Dual-boot). Windows Media Player 11 is great for my multimedia purposes (Playing mp3's and videos and such). But unfortunately, Windows Media Player isn't coded for Linux.

If I switch what would be the best option for a Media Player?

You can use Mplayer or VLC Video Player, both great options!

Are there only video players available for Ubuntu? Totem is also a video player. Isn't there something that is not mainly focused on video?
