7.04 update to 8.04 fails wont partialy update

installed all updates for ubuntu studio 7.04,then attempted to update to 8.04,update failed,won't run partial update.says that system may be unstable,system runs dpkg --configure -a

You can't directly upgrade from 7.04 to 8.04, you have to follow the releases so that it's 7.04>7.10>8.04 except in the case of LTS releases where you can directly upgrade from one LTS release to the next.

Could you post the errors you are getting.

Thank you Pramod for trying to help,I fixed it by uninstalling alsa,then the update proceeded,you can update from 7.04 to 8.04,but it will fail if all updates for 7.04 are not installed properly,I neglected to reboot after updating 7.04,regards,Sid (Ubuntu Studio)
