Whilst applying the 176 updates after installing Ubuntu 8.04 'Hardy' It stops at a point and tells me that A Local security certificate needs relacing.(ssl-cert) What is this and should I accept it???

Asked by Mark

Hello My name is Mark Hogan.

I have just installed Ubuntu Hardy. and then started to install the 176 updates.
Towards the end of the updates it stops and a dialogue box opens with this output::

Debconf on Mark desktop.

Configuring ssl-cert

Local security certificate must be replaced

A security certificate which was automatically created for your local system needs to be replaced due to a flaw which renders it insecure. This will be done automatically.

If you don't know anything about this, you can safely ignore this message.

As yo can see the last line says if you don't know anything about this you can safely ignore this message.
Does this mean I need to cancel this update by clicking the cancel button? Or do I accept this update?
I am new to ubuntu and this is worrying me from a security point of view.

I hope there is someone who can rectify this for me.

Kind Regards

Mark Hogan.

You really should accept this update. There was a serious security problem with keys and certificates generated on Debian and Ubuntu systems.

You can read more in the security notification: http://www.ubuntu.com/usn/usn-612-4
