Dell Inspiron 6400 with Ubuntu 8.04.

I had, until today a useful button on the top panel - a magnifying glass with an orange centre. It enabled me to find documents. sometimes using a phrase from the document. Now, since today's update, that button is not in the panel and I cannot find it on the computer. IT seems much more useful that the file browser. Can it be restored to use. Please let me know. Thank you.

you can manually add it to panel by right clicking on panel and selecting "add to panel" it can be found there

Thank you for the quick response. I did as suggested. The application does the same task as the one I had before but has a different icon. I believe it is also in a drop down menu under Places. I will live with the one you suggest and remain intrigued as to what happened to the one that was there from the moment I started using the computer.
