Lexmark 3100 series printer install

I just switched from XP and cannot figure out how to install the above named printer. I am completely new to linux, but do have a good understanding of computers. I need a walkthru if anyone has the time and patience. Ubuntu recognizes the printer but does not print. Thanks in advance.

yes, error 1. I tried to change the model to 3200 and got the printer to ACT like it was gonna start, but it doesn't print
