how do I return to graphic interface mode from text mode

Asked by ComoxLinux

I mistakenly switched from graphic mode to text via a system option within the Ubuntu system desktop menu. I got a blank screen so I turned off the computer. Now Ubuntu boots with the text command lines only. How can I restore Ubuntu to the normal graphic desktop mode?

Hello,

I don't understand your Ubuntu system "DESKTOP" menu, what do you mean by "desktop" ?

When your are in the text console, after you login, type :

sudo /etc/init.d/gdm start
[sudo] password for your_user:

Then type your password. It is normal if you don't see anything when you type your password.

When the graphic session is starting, correct your problem from the same menu...
