firmware bugs after update causing problems booting

Asked by greg stokes

after update unable to boot normaly. in recovery mode I get a flash screen ." 0.021265][firmware bug]:AMD-VI:IOAPC[0]not in IVRS table
[0.021343]firmware bug]:AMD-VI no southbridge IOAPIC found
0.021373]AMD-VI:disabling interrupt remapping
It then goes to black screen .I installed another ubuntu 14 on another partition and it also has the same problem. I am able to boot only through advanced modes recovery. I have tried the boot repair to no avail please help. I love my ubuntu and would dearly like it back to how it was.

thank you for answering andrew. this machine is only 1 month into a new gigabyte motherboard shop installed, so I would assume that it would be the latest bios. It was running perfectly until an automatic update required a restart and failed to boot properly since then. I had windows 7 shop installed and ubuntu dual boot. It proved problematic until I got rid of win7 and is now solely ubuntu. The motherboard fitted is gigbyte GA-F2A68HM-DS2. the chipset is AMD A68H with onboard graphics.I hope this information is usefull. sorry for being so tardy in replying ,but us old luddites need our sleep
