time & date

the time & date doesn't display properly, sometimes a day late and the time keeps (24 hour) style. can this be changed to 12 hour??
it seems when i'm off line the time & date stop. i'm using the latest ubuntu 8.04 release.

Can you right-click on the date/time in the top right-hand corner and choose preferences?
There is an option "Time Settings" to choose an appropriate server to synchronise time with across the internet.

You can also set a 12 hour clock in these same preferences.
