when opening a .wmv in the movie player it wont play

i dl a .wmv file i have installed the proper codecs that will play others but this box pops up and says " because the associated helper application does not exist. Change the association in your preferences" and i do not know what to do

Try to start the movie player, and open the file from it (File -> Open... or something like this).

Can you help with this problem?
