do I need to use SMP with intel Quad core 6600

I am running Hardy i386 (32bit)
works but there are some minor video problems
all four cpus show up and are being used according to the system manager.
the computer has 4gig of ram but only sees 3.2

in addition I have just found a site (by reading an answer on this site) that has a Gutsy IA64 but I was wondering if there is a hardy IA64...
I have looked and ordered a DVD but now I am concerned that I may only get another copy of the AMD64

Hello,

With a Quad core you should run a 64bit version of Ubutun with SMP kernel. (PS: AMD64 is also for Intel 64 bit)
