create autorun DVD for my Television

Asked by nicenick

Ubuntu 6.0.6 Dapper

I want to join my family Digital Camera Files and put them on a DVD disk with menu selections to run on a 'standalone' DVD/Television player. I want to make multiple copies and give them to my family. I can play each file no problem, I can join each file, no problem. But how do I place them on a DVD and make a menu selections / Titles?

I have K3b and Kino, do I need something else (another program)?

Point me in the correct direction, if I have the right Software, I can figure it out.

Thanks,

Nice Nick

Take a look at DeVeDe.

http://www.rastersoft.com/programas/devede.html

Unfortunately it's not in the repository for Dapper, but is in Edgy and Feisty.

Sorry, I downloaded devede 2.11, extracted it, but could not install it with terminal. sh install.sh waited 40 minutes but my terminal never returned more thatn a blinking cursor.

I think I am not as savy as I thought.
Need help to install a downloaded program. I thought the install.sh file would complete the download but I guess not.

Did I need to create/install to a particular directory.

You may want to download the .deb file for 6.06
http://www.getdeb.net/getdeb.php?file=devede_2.11-0%7Egetdeb1_all.deb

If you ever upgrade to 6.10 you can install devede from the repositories, through the Synaptic Package Manager, or Applications>Add/Remove.

I installed devede, but I could not understand how to use it properly. I installed DVDauthor from the repositories and with a little bit of frustation, I made a playable DVD (second try) on my home DVD/television system.

Thanks for everyones kind help.

Devede seems like it wants to be more user friendly, but just couldn't get it produce a playable DVD, (wated 2 disks) It just is not telling me something important I need to know.
