private package and dependency
I've installed Ubuntu desktop on my laptop PC lately and getting
stuck on one probrem...
First I installed uim packege from ubuntu repository. Then I 've
down loaded uim source code (the latest one from desktop.org)
and make it to rpm package and convert it to deb package using
alien command.
Since I'm new to debian and Ubuntu, I've done "dpkg --purge uim"
without using any update command like "rpm -Fvh" in Red Hat &
Fedora.. and installed my new uim package with
"dpkg -i uim_1.4.
That's all what I did and after that there is always update alert
show up on my task bar and among available packages, only the uim
(original ubuntu version 1.2.1) is checked and available for down load.
Since my uim package version is 1.4.0 (the latest one), I do not
want to update to 1.2.1, but otherwise it seems not to be possible
to down load and update other packages.
Does anyone know what to do with such situation?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
