Error: BrokenCount > 0

Asked by demonR6

The automatic update via the package manager experiences a bug when attempting to download and install the following packages:

linux-headers-2.6.24-18
xulrunner -1.9

the error is _cache_>open(failed)

also Error:BrokenCount>O

I am instructed to use dpkg --configure -a from the terminal but I get the error that requested operation requires superuser privileges.

Help please.

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs .

Thanks for the question.

You need to add "sudo" at the front of the line:

sudo dpkg --configure -a

You will then be asked for your login password.

Hope this helps.
