New to Linux - Need to Install from USB to system that does not have a CD Drive

Asked by shadowclown

To start with, I am new to Linux and have therefore never installed it before. I know this is probably a basic question but I would appreciate any help. I searched the archives but can't find what I'm looking for.

I have an older system (650 MHz P3, 128mb RAM, & 4gb hdd) with no CD-ROM drive, I would like to install Ubuntu and use it as a web surfing/word processor computer. My only option is to install from USB. I have the ISO file, but it only wants to install to a CD, can I create a CD on another computer and copy it to my USB stick? Do I need to format the USB stick to something other than FAT32? Is this system too old for Ubuntu?

Thanks!

I'm about 95% sure I saw instructions there for an install to a computer from a flash drive, but hey worse case you can just run the OS off the flash drive :)

Can you help with this problem?
