I believe that OpenOffice comes in a 'suite'. To the extent of my knowledge, I don't believe that it is possible to only have select applications. Have a look at Synaptic Package Manager. Search for OpenOffice, and if specific applications in the suite appear, try deselecting them. If they all deselect when you only choose one, it means you can't.

Nick thanks for the answer. One more question to you is, can I possibly get the full version openoffice? Is the one that comes in ubuntu 7.10 not full version?

Sorry about my above comment. It seems that it is possible to remove specific OpenOffice applications, and it can be done with Add/Remove. Secondly, OpenOffice is open source software, and therefore, all of their software is the full version.

Nick, thanks for the info. I was able to remove openoffice presentation and database. I wasn't, however, able to remove drawing. If I did that, I would risk removing other vital components of the openoffice suite upon which the program depends.

Yes, Drawing is dependent for Openoffice to work sufficiently. Unfortunately, you have to keep this application.
Also, if you are trying to make space, Abiword is a lighter word processor than Openoffice Writer, and is capable of the same basic formatting. It may be in your best interest to uninstall Openoffice completely, and install Abiword.

Nick, thanks for the advice. By the way, how big is the openoffice suite preloaded in ubuntu? And, how big is abiword's suite?

This information would best be found on the homepages, although Abiword is specifically a word processor, and openoffice is an entire office suite.

Can you help with this problem?
