Monitor turns off while CD is booting

Asked by Andre Menks

I've burned correctly the CD's (I tryed with 6.06 and 6.10) and I have the same problem with booth. The boot starts, I can see the welcome screen, a bar loads, I have some text messages and the screen turns off. I can hear the CD running a little bit more and the intro melody. The CD stops and I can't see anything and the keyboard doesn't seens to answer. It's my first time with linux.

What video card does your computer have?

Sounds like it doesnt like the video mode that Ubuntu switches to.

I'm sorry. I'm running a Samsung R50 and it has a ATI Mobility Radeon X700.

Bug number 22985 seems the closest match to your problem. Unfortunately I don't think there is a simple solution. The only alternative is to use the "alternate" CD rather than the live Desktop one. This means you can't boot of the CD and play, but are forced to install it. You can download the alternate CD from the same location as the Desktop CD.

Thank you very much for now Alan. I could never imagine this absolute fast answer.
I'm downloading the alternate CD. I will publish my results here.

Bad news,
I used the "alternate" CD and installed the system thru the oem. It was not so easy for a newcomer. When the system starts to boot everythin was OK but when the screen changed from text to GUI it turned off again. I booted again in recovery mode and could navigate for the directories but when I typed "exit" I lost the monitor again.
