Boot cds have errors

Asked by spartan128

I am attempting to burn the live cd but keep coming up with errors on it. I have run MD5Sum on all four cds I have made and I get a different sum for Wubi then it should be every time. I also ran the checksum on the iso I down loaded and it came up fine but when I check for defects in the first three cds they come up with 3 errors each. I have tried redownloading the ISO file again (cheched with MD5SUM again)and obtained similar results except it won't even read the cd when I try to check for defects. I know that if there is an error on the cds then I'm supposed to try a lower burn speed but I've already lowered to 1x for the last two to no effect. Please help.

Your cd burner may be starting to wear out its laser, you might want to consider ordering some free cd's from shipit (http://shipit.ubuntu.com) though they may take a while to arrive.
if you can't wait you can buy a cd from somewhere like http://www.osdisc.com it will close a few dollars (usd) but arrive quicker than shipit.

if you have a current windows install you can also install ubuntu via wubi by just downloading wubi from http://wubi-installer.org/ and installing it on windows - it will download all the files it needs to install ubuntu itself without needing to burn a cd

If I download wubi would I be able to dual boot or would it just overwrite windows? Sorry it took me so long to reply.
