using beryl themes

Obviously i have no idea what i am doing, but i have the emerald theme manager and a couple of themes to choose from: blueplastic2-mod and darklyglassed but how do i use them?
and how do i get cool desktop effects?

if you goto system -> preferences -> appearance and on the last tab (desktop effects) you should be able to enable them there.
to customise them you can install (from add remove programs, search for "ccsm") compiz config settings manager. once that is installed you can play with it via system -> preferences -> advanced desktop effects settings.

To use beryl themes you have to install 'emerald' (sudo apt-get install emerald) and then use the emerald theme manager installed.
