How to install Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Desktop Editionas a second OS with Windows Vista Home Premium

Asked by Somnath

Hi,
I have recently got Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Desktop Edition. Before that I was using Windows Vista Home Premium Edition.I want to create a dual boot system. When I tried to install Ubuntu inside Windows during rebooting in Ubuntu It is asking to specify the system root file. Also, during booting from CD during installalation it is asking to specify the partition disk.I want to ask if I need to have an empty partition of disk to install. Can you please tell me the procedure to install Ubuntu as a second OS.

Thank you.

I have problem activating my WLAN card after installation but the LAN works. I tried enabling it manually but could not. Do I need to install other unique drivers/patch before?
