NVIDIA driver failed to enable

Asked by andyc51

After upgrading to Ubuntu 8.04, my video resolution is default to 800x600 and cannot be increased. When trying to enable the Nvidia driver under Device driver, the following error message is displayed:

E: nvidia-glx: subprocess post-removal script returned error exit status 2

Now the video resolution is only 640x480! I have a AMD motherboard with Nvidia 6150LE chipset.

Please help.

Thanks,
Andy

I don't have any knowledge of the Nvidia chipset you are using, but Alberto Milone <email address hidden> has done a lot of work on Nvidia and ATI graphics, and I recommend you investigate his Envy software. It's not official Ubuntu drivers, but it is free and available from his own web site.

Anyway, it worked well for me, and you'll find it in a search engine. For Hardy, you will need the newer version.
