Update Bug: After installing newest gnome panel updates, Trash applet is now broken

Asked by AFarris01

Hey all... just wanted to post on here before and get some confirmation i try filing an official bug report, but after installing the latest gnome-panel updates for Ubuntu 8.04, my trash applet has disappeared, and i cannot add it back onto my panel. all other panel icons work, and i can still add other new ones, but the trash applet wont add, and no icon is displayed. i can still access the trash via "Places>Computer>Trash," but i would sort of like my panel link back...thanks!

Right click the panel, select 'Add to Panel...', and then search for Trash. A trash icon will appear on that panel, and it can be moved to a preferential position.

thats just the thing... the trash applet wont add back to the panel either, and its the only thing that wont. whenever i do try to re-add it, a skinny white line appears like the icon is about to pop-up, then it disappears and nothing else happens.

update: when i just changed my theme, my icons had a bg color, and i noticed that i had a bunch of little lines on my panels. when rightclicking on them i discovered that they were many small trash applets...so its still there, but the icon isnt showing up...how can i fix that?

i updated the latest Ubuntu version 12.04.
While searching thru files, I noticed lots of files noted as "broken link";
Should I move these files to trash?
