I have onboard video adaptor chipset 810 Hp mx70 & my resolution is stuck at 800 x 600. I need it bigger. This is my xorg.conf file:

# xorg.conf (X.Org X Window System server configuration file)
#
# This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
# values from the debconf database.
#
# Edit this file with caution, and see the xorg.conf manual page.
# (Type "man xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
#
# This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
# if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
# package.
#
# If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
# again, run the following command:
# sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

starting with the latest ubuntu the xorg.conf file is not longer the primary config file but most things are handled automatically. can you change the resolution within gnome?

Hello,
Someone in the forums helped me and I got it fixed.
Here is what SunnyRabiera told me to do:
Type gksu displayconfig-gtk in a terminal
go to the "screen" tab and if monitor is picked up as a plug and play
try one of the other generic settings, to get mine to work past 800x600 I had to use the generic lcd 1024x768 driver to make my screen co operate.
