completed installation but still doesn`t show full sceen

yesterday`s answer got the installation done, but the window/desktop etc... still shows up as a 6 x 8" with a 3" blank black border and eliminates the bottom text/options in the window. It does, however, show the bottom toolbar with trash bin etc... Is this a driver thing, a Dell thing, or something else
