Not Enough Memory to load updates
Asked by

Have a ACER Extensa [Travelmate] 502T laptop with 160 MB RAM, with a 2GB HD. I am trying to load 6.0.6 LiveCD.
It begins by displaying the Loading LINUX kernal box, which gets to 100% and then a comes up with an I/O error "Not enough memory to load specified kernel"
I have also got a 6.0.10 Alternative Install, which I have also tried. This gets past the Loading LINUX kernel but causes the Laptop tp reboot part way through the ...Loading /install/initrd.gz.
I have DSL working quite happily on this laptop, although I have to use fb800x600. I have tried all VGA modes for the installation.
Is the HD too small, if so is there a minimum install of Ubuntu?
