re #34822 similar problem

Using festy 7.1 unable upgrade via upgrade manager ( shows that upgrade is available to 8.04 but will NOT upgrade) tried the advice given #34822 window comes up showing Distribution Upgrade
running then 2nd window appears stating Your system is up to date upgrade will be cancelled
So how then do I upgrade short of getting a new disk version of 8.04?

can you post the results of

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Hello

replace all instances of gutsy with hardy in your sources.list file, and comment out the commercial repos and

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

Then

sudo do-release-upgrade -d

In terminal window (Applications, Accessories)

sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

Go to Search menu, Replace
Do a global replace of the word "gutsy" with the word "hardy".

Save and close gedit

Then in terminal window again

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

and if necessary...

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
