Problem with Ubuntu 8.04 and Nvidia Gainward Bliss 9600GT PCX GS Driver

Asked by Nemanja

I have instaled a 32-bit version of Ubuntu 8.04 but system does not recognize my graphic card. I downloaded the latest Nvidia driver for this card, instaled it, but it doesn't work. I tried everything i can think of, including re-instalation of Ubuntu (about 7-10 times in last 36 hours)... If anyone know's how to help me, please do! :( until then i'll be using bugging vista again :(

If you have gone down the more conventioanl path of trying to enable the proprietary nvidia drivers (Applications menu, Add/Remove, search for nvidia, choose the "new" drivers), here's a posting that may help you...

If it's a 9-series Nvidia, then you cannot use the nvidia-glx package, or the Nvidia 16* drivers, you would need the 173 which may have just been released.

Can you help with this problem?
