how do i report an application that needs updating?

hello

my OS is ubuntu hardy heron 8.04.

i cannot use escputil printing utilities correctly nor can i use stylus-toolbox, which is the graphical front end for escputil, because stylus-toolbox only supports what ubuntu's gutenprint supports.

because gutenprint is out-of-date and needs updating, i cannot check the ink levels well nor can i clean the printing heads on my epson D92 printer (this model, out for a about a year, is not on gutenberg's list of supported printers, so it does not appear on the list supported by sourceforge.net and escputil/stylus-toolbox).

this is not a bug, it is a ubuntu program that needs updating.

how can i report this to ubuntu and ask for a fix?

Fill a bug -- there is special category of "bugs" called Wishlist.
