How Do I Install A Theme?

Asked by Nate

I am trying to install a theme in Ubuntu 8.04 (Heron) and I just can't seem to get it to work out. The theme is called "black-glossy" (Awn Theme). I have absolutely no idea what AWN means, if it is just the name for the file, or if it pertains to the type of system I can install it on?...like I said, I have NO idea what the AWN thing means...Anyways, I downloaded it from this site:

http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Black-Glossy+(Awn+Theme)?content=80388

I didn't get a .tar.gz file. Rather I got a .tgz. Is this the same thing? Again, I've got no idea...I'm obviously new to Ubuntu/Linux, but I do know that someone out there has done this, I saw the video on YouTube <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLV0219DLH0> and I want to get that look. The Ubuntu community is great when it comes to responses, so I am hoping that someone knows what to do and will be so kind as to post a step-by-step guide. I am new to Ubuntu, but excited at learning how to use it.

Cheers,

Nate
