Error while upgrading Edgy (drubuntu) to Feisty

Asked by etereo

I've just downloaded and started drubuntu (http://groups.drupal.org/node/6260) which is a vmware image of ubuntu with LAMP+Drupal+Eclipse+PHPeclipse+etc

It runs fine, but since it's an old Edgy, I wanted to upgrade to Hardy and I'm not able to do this.

I've updated using Update Manager and now I only see "New distribution release '7.04' is available", but when I click the "Upgrade" button, it says "Error during update A problem occured during the update. This is usually some sort of network problem, please check your network connection and retry." and then it lists a lot of Fetch errors

unfortunatly it seems that you have used/installed automatix, automatix is 100% unsupported, 100% not reccomended and will break your system in a million and one ways that its just impossible to diagnose, therefore the only real advice i can give you is to backup all the important documents you have and re-install ubuntu without automatix .

the plus side of this is that you can just install hardy stright away without having to upgrade through feisty -> gutsy -> hardy.

Can you help with this problem?
