Has the Morning Coffee Firefox addon been packaged up yet?

Asked by Alex Cockell

My brother has pointed me in the direction of the Firefox "Morning Coffee" addon - http://linux.softpedia.com/get/Internet/Firefox-Extensions/Morning-Coffee-34106.shtml

I was wondering whether work is being undertaken to package this for Ubuntu 8.04.

Thanks,

Alex Cockell

firefox addons are rarely packaged up in the repositories as you can install them from firefox anyway.

Umm - granted... I checked its page and it hasn't been ported to Firefox 3 yet...

However, installing addons would only install them for that one user. The way i understood the idea behind package management was that *everything* gets applied as a package...

Or maybe that's what I'm used to as it's how we operate at work.

Thoughts?

yes, you can install firefox addons for all users without a package by putting the relavant files in somewhere like /usr/share/mozilla/extensions

the point is that there are far too many firefox addons to maintain in the repositories so very few actually do end up in there. if you are willing to do the hard work yourself you can contribute the package to the MOTU people yourself

Can you help with this problem?
