16.04 Files application has no "Browse Network" or "File System" options

Asked by Peter

I have just tried to move from 12.04 to 16.04 and can't because the "Files" application (About shows: "Files 3.14.3" whereas in 12.04 it shows "Nautilus 3.4.2") has neither the "Browse Network" nor "File System" options.

How did you perform the upgrade?
Did you upgrade to 14.04 first, then to 16.04, or is this a clean install from CD, wiping the old install off first?

Thanks

Hi - this was a clean install from a USB burnt from ubuntu-16.04.1-desktop-amd64.iso

I also applied all pending updates after the install

I assume this is the same problem as https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1551003

Does this mean that the "Files" application in 16.04 is less functional than in 12.04 (and 14.04) and I must install some other application to do (what is to me) fundamentally basic filesystem and network navigation?
